Exploring Grand Corruption in The Gambia

In 2019, as part of efforts to document the voices of the victims of the mass corruption under dictator Yahya Jammeh’s regime, we partnered with Transparency International to produce a documentary called Hyena. Hyena highlights crimes such as the unlawful confiscation of property, forced exile, false accusations, unlawful dismissals and the denial of social benefits to deserving citizens. Because of the video documentary, 4 victims and 1 adversely mentioned person in the video were called to testify publicly at the country’s Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC). Hyena was admitted as evidence at the Truth Commission.
