Giving a Voice to Victims of Land Corruption

In 2021, we produced two documentaries featuring victims of land related corruption in two Gambian Communities. Kharafi in Kafuta features the stories of residents of Kafuta, vast areas of whose farmlands are occupied by The Kharafi Group, a commercial farming project. They are prevented from carrying out their farming activities, which is the main source of income for the community. Maladies in Babylon tells the ordeal of land owners from three communities (Lameng, Makumbaya and Mandinaring) whose lands were forcefully seized and sold by one Lamin Jarju, a resident of Babylon who claimed ownership of and chieftaincy over the farmlands.
