Open Budget Survey

n 2019, we partnered with International Budget Partnership (IBP) to introduce The Gambia to the Open Budget Survey (OBS). The OBS is a global indicator that assesses and ranks the performance of 120 governments in fiscal transparency, public participation and budget oversight yearly. Through OBS, we were able to identify the lapses in fiscal transparency and develop advocacy strategies and institution support programs to tackle them. When The Gambia joined the OBS in 2019, it had a transparency score of 4/100. Two years later in 2021, The Gambia scored 35/100, making it the highest improver in transparency in the OBS that year.
