The Missing Covid-19 Funds

To mitigate the loss of income during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, the government of Gambia pledged D734m to support families and procure food products to be distributed to 84,000 households across the country. We found there to be very limited information on the government’s procurement and distribution process. There also were striking discrepancies in the government's report on Covid-19 expenditures, pointing to gross mismanagement of the food products meant for households severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
