Marr Nyang

Seeing the need for citizen participation in governance, Marr Nyang founded Gambia Participates in 2016 mobilizing citizens to participate in the historic 2016 elections, which saw The Gambia transition to Democracy after a troubled two decades of autocracy. Marr started his professional career working with a reputable law firm that works on criminal and commercial law. Marr’s expertise is in Public Finance Management (with a special focus on participatory budgeting, budget transparency, and oversight), Anti-Corruption, and Elections. Marr has worked with multiple global organizations in conducting research on governance, elections, anti-corruption, and budget. Marr together with the amazing team has built Gambia Participates as one of the biggest Civil Society Organizations in The Gambia with an international reputation.
