About the Role
Gambia Participates is inviting Election Assistant interns to work with its Programs Department, an opportunity to learn, gain experience in the governance space, while contributing to the impact of the organization. The Election Assistant intern will be assisting the Programs Manager and Programs Officer in the planning, implementation, coordination, and support of various election program activities. This involves supporting project management tasks, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and ensuring effective program delivery across GP's portfolio of anti-corruption, fiscal transparency, and election-related initiatives.
The internship offers a valuable platform for emerging professionals, particularly recent university graduates, to gain hands-on work experience in a dynamic and forward-thinking professional work environment. This fosters the development of real-life skills at an accelerated pace in program management and good governance programming.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties:
Assist the Programs Manager and Programs Officer in the planning and coordination of election program activities, events, and initiatives
Support the development and updating of program implementation plans, work plans, and activity schedules
Assist with organizing and coordinating training sessions, workshops, seminars, and stakeholder meetings
Assist the Programs Department in coordinating with GP’s Election Observers
Assist in coordinating with project partners, civil society organizations, media, and government institutions
Support the preparation of program reports, updates, and communications materials
Assist with logistics coordination for program events, community engagements, and capacity building activities
Participate in program meetings, engagements, and project activities as required
Take other assistant duties as requested by the Programs Manager and senior management
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must be/have:
Recent graduates with a focus in Development Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related fields
Demonstrated interest in good governance, anti-corruption, fiscal transparency, elections, and national development
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong organizational and coordination skills
Interest in research and analytical skills
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
Advanced command of English
Knowledge of local languages will be an advantage
Understanding of The Gambia's political and governance landscape will be an asset
